Q: Philcoxia cultivation

A: There has been nothing published on how to grow these. However, let us speculate. The plants grow in the campos rupestre and cerrado region of Brazil, along with Genlisea. Accordingly, growing the plants in similar conditions would probably be successful. No doubt you would want a top dressing of at least 2-5 cm of pure, washed, white quartzite sand--as this is critical for the normal functioning of the slightly buried leaves. Finally, bright sun would be ideal to penetrate the sand layer.

If you were given the opportunity to grow this, I would confer with those who are experts in growing Australian tuberous Drosera such as Drosera zonaria, or perhaps Utricularia menziesii.

Pereira et al. (2012) reported growing the plants, 1 per 5 liter pot, for five months in a greenhouse.
